Kennedale ISD 2023 Bond

Welcome!

Welcome to the Kennedale ISD 2023 Bond Program website. On May 6, 2023, the voters of Kennedale ISD (KISD) approved three propositions for broad sweeping improvements to KISD schools. The $98,605,000 program will address capacity challenges and provide programmatic enhancements across the District while also addressing much needed capital improvements to our aging schools. This website has been designed to provide the community with regular updates of the program’s progress. Check back regularly for updates!

Roofing Project Wrapping Up

The bond program included roofing upgrades to Kennedale High School, Kennedale Junior High School, JAA Early Childhood Center and RF Patterson Elementary School.  The projects have been completed, with the exception of some roof drains to be added at the Junior High and gutters/downspouts to be replaced at the High School Multi-Purpose Facility.  This work will take place over summer break.  The overall project is under budget.  The roofing contractor is also working on punch list items and preparing closeout documents and warranties.

Kennedale Junior High School Addition Taking Shape
Along with a complete remodel of interior spaces to be tackled this summer, Kennedale Junior High will be receiving a substantial addition that includes Science and CTE classrooms.  The 35,000 sf addition will also act as a storm shelter for the campus when necessary.  The foundation work for the addition is ongoing, and the walls for the storm shelter component of the addition are also taking shape.  The project is under budget and progressing well.
Construction Contract Awarded for RF Patterson
At their regularly scheduled meeting on March 27, 2025, the Board approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price for additions and renovations to RF Patterson.  This marks the last of the major projects included in the 2023 bond to be awarded.  Along with extensive interior renovations, the project includes the construction of a new library/media center to serve the students.  The $7.5M award brings the project in under budget.  Work will begin in the coming weeks.
